According to a recent Health Foundation study quoted in a BBC News item of July 25th 2023 by the year 2040, an additional 2.5 million people in England will be suffering from serious illnesses such as cancer, diabetes and dementia.

It could be argued that this telling prognosis could have been avoided if the NHS had not been fatally flawed since day one of its foundation. That initial flaw was to put the NHS not inconsiderable resources into cure rather than prevention and preventative medical education.

It can be reasonably conjectured that a population which had been brought up on a diet of preventative living and lifestyles would not be grappling with the projections of this dire Health Foundation study which can be clearly seen in the light of  closing the stable door after the horse has bolted because when the health of a nation has deteriorated to the extent being reported, it is very difficult to recover from such a scenario.

It is for this reason that many individuals today are examining their personal lifestyles and opting for a healthy diet, exercising and  avoiding smoking, over indulgence in alcohol and other deleterious options.

Many of these individuals are finding that herbal medicine, yoga, meditation, pilates, Tai Chi organic food, homoeopathy and acupuncture are part of their preventative lifestyle. A lifestyle which the Complementary Medicine Centre has been supporting since its inception in 1986. Part of that support has been seen in the work of our training school the Scottish College of Complementary medicine which has matriculated more than a thousand students sending them out into the therapy world to put their well trained shoulders to the collective wheel.
