Hypnosis can be seen as being similar to sleep where the mind is in an altered and deeply relaxed state.

During hypnosis the mind is still capable of accessing memories, sensations and thoughts.

Hypnotherapy is absolutely safe when the practitioner is properly trained and qualified, especially when the practitioner has solid clinical experience behind them, as we do at The Complementary Medicine Centre.
At your first appointment the Hypnotherapist will take a full case history of the client and glean their desired outcomes.

For some conditions, such as stopping smoking, a one session protocol may be adequate. With other problems, especially ones that are long-established, several sessions may be necessary.
At the Complementary Medicine Centre, a hypnotherapy session usually lasts about one hour.

Your first session is usually split into two half hour parts. In the first part, we start by discussing the nature of your problem, as well as giving a thorough explanation of what hypnotherapy is and how it works.

In the second part of the session, the practitioner leads the client into the hypnotic state of deep relaxation where positive thoughts and affirmations can be brought to bear on the problem.
Many clients have commented that their session feels akin to meditation and that they are relaxed, invigorated and strengthened by the experience.
