Ruth Chappell

Ruth Chappell

Ruth qualified as a Registered General Nurse, Health Visitor, Reflexologist, Aromatherapist and Acupuncturist working within the NHS for many years before founding the Complementary Medicine Centre in 1986.

Ruth is co-director and co-founder of the Complementary Medicine Centre, Principal of the Scottish College of Complementary Medicine and Chairman of the Association of Medical Aromatherapists and Reflexologists.

The projects which she focalised at Ruchill Hospital, Woodside Health Centre and the Overbridge Centre, were among the first Scottish initiatives to offer complementary therapies within an NHS framework. The Ruchill Hospital project saw the bodywork therapies being used with HIV positive and AIDS patients, the Woodside Health Centre project allowed GP's to offer massage and reflexology in a busy, inner city health centre and at the Overbridge Centre, aromatherapy became an important therapeutic tool with patients suffering from multiple-sensory deprivation, many of the latter being both deaf and blind.

Ruth has now become one of Scotland's leading experts on fertility health using acupuncture, reflexology, massage and related therapies.

Ruth qualified as an acupuncturist in 1990 with the British College of Acupuncture and is a member of the British Acupuncture Council.
