Hair Mineral Analysis

Hair analysis is used to detect deficiencies of minerals and levels of toxic metals in the body. The test covers 18 minerals and metals.

These are Calcium/Magnesium/Phosphorus/Sodium/Potassium/Iron/Copper/Zinc/Chromium/Manganese/Selenium/

Nickel/Cobalt/Lead/Mercury/Cadmium/Arsenicum/Aluminum.

Hair has many advantages over other tissues in the body. Biopsies of bone or organs are invasive, urine samples will only tell you what the body is excreting and blood will only show you what is in it at the time it is taken.

Beacause hair grows slowly and accumulatively a hair sample can give a history of what has passed into the hair follicle in the past 6 to 8 weeks. Also many minerals are present in significantly higher quantities (up to 200 times greater) than in blood. Hair analysis by mass  spectrometer can be a useful screening tool for assessing mineral status of the body.

A generous quantity of hair (1-2 tblsps) needs to be cut form the nape of the neck close to the scalp and between 3/4 to 1inch long. Hair should be sent in a separate envelope, and the following details need to be incuded.
