Mairead uses her extensive training as a psychologist to meet the needs of clients at the Complementary Medicine Centre. Drawing on a wide range of therapeutic techniques ranging from Cognitive-Analytic to the Humen Givens approach, she is a firm believer in tailoring the therapeutic approach to best address the specific issues raised by the client. She is also concerned to ensure the least distress for clients, and by using the latest techniques that synthesise the best therapy with current understanding of brain processess, it is often possible to relieve significant psychological distress including PTSD, depression and anxiety in a few sessions. She is very experienced in working with such issues as anxiety, depression, grief, assertiveness/confidence-building and couples therapy. She offers a specialist approach in relation to such serious issues as childhood abuse and domestic abuse, rape and sexual assault, again using techniques that serve to minimise distress for clients throughout the recovery process. Mairead is also highly experienced in working with children and young people on a wide range of issues including parental separation, school refusal and attachment issues as well as deeper issues involving psychological trauma, She regularly provides court reports and assessments in relation to adults and children, specialising in such issues as contact, residence and criminal cases involving abuse as well as insurance and compensation claims in the case of accident or injury. |
